"Grand Prix CARE International du Reportage Humanitaire"

For the tenth consecutive year, the "Grand Prix CARE International du Reportage Humanitaire" (CARE International Grand Prize for the Best Humanitarian Reporting) will be awarded as part of the Festival "Visa Pour l'Image" in Perpignan at the beginning of September 2005.

Initiated by CARE France, the "Grand Prix CARE International du Reportage Humanitaire" aims to pay a tribute to photographers or reporters who testify about major humanitarian catastrophies all around the world.

In 2004, the prize was awarded to Olivier Jobard for his work on "Sudan, forgotten war". The winners of the previous editions were Florence Gaty in 2003 for her report on Buruli's disease in Benin, Anne-Laure Detillieux in 2002 for her report on Mozambique floods, Shafiqul Alam Kiron in 1999 for his photos on violence against women in Bangladesh, Lizzie Sadin in 1998 for her work on battered wives, and Tom Stoddart in 1997 for his report on Sarajevo.

The winner of the 2005 edition will be designated by a jury of professionals and will receive a prize of 8.000 euro.

The deadline for all photoreports is June 15th 2005.
